Bluestone is a Victorian basalt. It is dense, cold to the hand and slightly porous, which is why every piece here is honed rather than polished — a polish on basalt looks wrong within a month and a honed face just wears evenly.
Marble comes from offcut. Slabs are cut for benchtops and the ends are waste; we buy the ends. That is why the veining is never the same twice and why the soap dishes cost what they cost.
Hot-rolled steel arrives with mill scale on it — the dark blue-grey skin that forms in the roll. We keep it, mill the edges, and finish with oil. It will darken with handling. It is not powder-coated and it is not meant to stay looking new.
Every item is listed with its actual dimensions in millimetres and its actual weight. If a number matters to you, it is on the page rather than in an email.

Stone travels badly. Photograph any breakage within 7 days and we replace or refund it. Chipped in transit is a fault; chipped by a dropped pan is not.
Cut from natural stone, so colour, veining and pitting change piece to piece. Marble items are offcut, so no two are close.
No. Bluestone and marble are supplied honed and unsealed. Both will mark — oil, wine and citrus all leave a shadow on marble, and that shadow is permanent. If that is a problem, buy the bluestone rather than the marble, or seal it yourself with a food-safe stone sealer.
Hot-rolled steel oxidises if it stays wet. It is oiled, not coated. Wipe it dry and it darkens slowly to a deep grey-brown. Leave it in a sink and it will spot. Re-oil once or twice a year with any light machine or mineral oil.
Freezer yes, and it holds cold for a long time, which is the point. Oven no — a thermal shock across a natural slab can split it and that split will not be a fault we cover.
Because it is. Benchtop fabricators cut slabs to size and the ends become waste. We buy those ends, which means low quantities, no repeat veining, and a price that reflects the material actually being a by-product.
Weights are listed against each item and they are the real shipped weights. The mortar is 3.4 kilograms. The bookends are 2.1 kilograms each. Nothing here is hollow or filled.
Dispatch is 2–4 business days. After that it is standard parcel post — usually 2–5 business days east coast, longer to WA, NT and regional addresses. Heavy items go by road.
